Welcome!

In the spirit of our name, Cultivating Peace Vermont, our aspiration and mission is to cultivate and promote mindfulness: both its meaning and practice in all the peacemaking activities we undertake. We do so, to help prevent and relieve suffering in our local, regional, and global communities. Our peace practices are inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Community.

Cultivating Peace was formed in response to a world of increasing polarization, unrest, materialism, and violence. Our community offerings include dharma book groups, days of mindfulness, community ceremonies, and art sessions to promote reflection, nonviolent action, and community connection. We understand that in order to create a peaceful society we must start with our body, speech, and mind. As we cultivate peace in ourselves, we cultivate peace in the world.

We offer online and in-person avenues for cultivating peace. Learn more in our Peace Actions section. Nurture seeds of peace with us through mindfulness meditation practices.

Subscribe to receive email alerts when we add new Peace Actions.

“if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work.”
